ACTOR PROFILE
GAI BROWN
BIOGRAPHY
Gai is beyond honoured to play the role of Marjorie with the lovely folk at Ensemble Theatre. Born and raised in Montréal, she completed her BFA at Concordia University and BEd at McGill before beginning a 25-year-long career at Mission Secondary School where she directed biannual productions of modern and Shakespearean plays.
Selected stage roles include: Marie-Ange in Michel Tremblay’s Les Belles Soeurs and Gertie in John Carroll’s Glory Days, as well as a turn directing Steel Magnolias for community theatre.
Gai completed a master’s thesis at WWU on Tremblay’s dramatic works. Struck by the many parallels to her personal history upon reading Marjorie Prime, Gai dedicates her performance to the gorgeous souls who struggle with dementia and neurodiversity and their long-suffering families. She is forever indebted to her family for their unbending support: Dave, Taylor, Lois, Chelsea, Parker, and precious grandbabies Miles and Ruby. How nice that we could love somebody.
