BIOGRAPHY

After completing his undergrad at the University of Victoria (UVIC), Tariq founded Victoria's Island Repertory Company in 1992, and co-produced Victoria’s first Shakespeare Festival. In 1996 Tariq moved to the UK where he completed his MFA at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). After repertory experience with The Charles Vance Repertory Company, and Birmingham Repertory in the UK, Tariq was a member of The Shaw Festival's acting ensemble for the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

Tariq’s directorial work includes successful productions of many classic theatre scripts including The Importance of Being Oscar, Oedipus Rex, Look Back In Anger, Life of Galileo, American Buffalo, A Woman of No Importance, The House of Bernardo Alba, The Front Page, 'Tis Pity She’s a Whore, Portia My Love, Richard III, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and ETC's productions of The Alchemist, Women Beware Women, The Normal Heart, and The Country Wife, and A Few Good Men (co-directed with Alan Brodie).
